If the fans of the 49ers could present awards to the players for their efforts on the field, these would be some of the awards that would be given:
MVP: Patrick Willis is the mainstay of this ball club. He has his 3rd All-Pro nomination, and continues to be a force on defense. Patrick Willis continues his domination at the position
Offensive Player of the year: Frank Gore wins the award due to the fact that he is still the engine of this almost ready offense. Frank had 1,120 yards on the ground and another 406 yards from scrimmage through the air. No matter what day it is and who the 49ers are playing Frank is the go to player. Without Frank Gore this team struggles.
Break out Player of the year: Vernon Davis had 78 catches and 13 touchdowns. He finally became the weapon the 49ers thought he could become. Teams can no longer clamp down on Frank Gore, and with the addition of Michael Crabtree teams have to respect the offense. Vernon Davis was the benefactor of the added talent. (By the way I said in my preseason break down that he would have a great year.)
Comeback Player of the year: Alex Smith although not dominating did benefit from Shaun Hills inability to move the ball club for 6 quarters. Alex was still up and down with consistency, but did enough to vie for his position next year. Alex’s numbers are still not NFL worthy numbers but they are the best numbers he has had in his career.
Unsung Hero: Justin Smith is to the defensive line what Patrick Willis and Frank Gore are to their positions. In a simple word: Important! Justin Smith is a work horse on the line. He not only makes offensive coordinator account for him, but he is a constant force on the line. He is also one of the most inspirational players on this team. The 49ers could use 53 of these types of motor players.
Best 1st year starter: Deshon Goldson is the guy who has added the punch to this defense. He has made impact plays throughout the year. In his first year as a starter he is what was missing from this defense in past years. He is a leader, a hitter, and a soon to be a well known name in the league.
Most improved player: Chilo Rachal over came early season errors and banters by coach Singletary to become one of the most improved players on the offensive line. He lowered his sack allowed totals and became a force in opening holes for the running game.
Rookie of the year: Even with his holdout it is clear to see why the 49ers coveted Michael Crabtree. He has dynamic hands, has the will to win, and wants to be an impact player. Michael’s impact on this team should be seen for years to come.

ratman932, 5 months ago | FlagYou are right jersey niner Aubrayo is another but I got another and I am sure there are a few more that need mentioning
too, Eric Heidtmann. Nobody gives the credit to man in the middle. I would have to say his is one the most important and it is the most overlooked as well as under appreciate d positions in the game. As far as Crabtree goes as long as he is here to play 49ers ball and not become TO jr I won't bash him. His performanc es will be overshadow ed by his stupidity for me for quite some time.
Jersey Niner, 6 months ago | FlagAGREE WITH ALL EXCEPT THE UNSUNG HERO. I WOULD GIVE THAT TO AUBRAYO FRANKLIN. HE ALLOWS WILLIS AND TAKEO TO MAKES PLAYS BY TAKING ON TWO BLOCKERS ON MOST PLAYS WHICH ALSO ALLOWS THE DE'S TO HAVE ONE ON ONE'SON THE OUTSIDE.
NO WAY AM I HATING ON JUSTIN SMITH. HE IS ONE OF THE KEYS FROM US GOING FROM A MEDIOCRE D TO ON THE CUSP OF BEING GREAT.

....and billybedam ned, mate, Crabtree is going to be great - I am past the holdout situation, I am on the Crabtree bandwagon and enjoying the ride - this year, if we can get the O'line sorted, our offense will have weapons, and I have faith in Alex Smith, so he will have time to throw and throw he will!! a good draft this year will see us a major threat in the NFL....kee
p Raye is O coach - dont change or it will be another manual for Smith to learn! keep the faith
go the mighty 49ers!!
