My First 49ersfaithful.net Blog

Hello everyone!

I hope I get like 2,000 friends on this thing, so please request to be my friend. Chrissy picked this photo as my icon. I thought it was funny so I’m leaving it. I’m not ashamed because that’s how I drink my water – just like a dog so that you can get more in at once!

I’ll start off with a little football talk.

I wasn’t aggressive enough last week. I was pretty passive in my pass sets, and you can’t do that. I learned that last year going against Michael Strahan, but I just didn’t play the way I should for some reason. I have to come out aggressive and I’m going to do that this week against the Packers and fans will see a different left tackle.

Green Bay is a big group up front. They’ve got big guys inside, and their ends are a little bigger than what we saw last week. They’ve got a guy from Central Michigan on their defensive line, and he’s good. Their linebackers are quick and aggressive and they have good instincts. We just need to play physical – that’s what it is about on the offensive line.

There were some days of camp where it felt like ground hog day - the same thing over and over again, but you try to take every opportunity that you have out on the field to get better and I think we are doing that.

My favorite part of training camp is actually the open practices when the fans are here. They get me pumped up for practice and I enjoy signing autographs and just that interaction. I had a blast too at Pasta Bowl, where we met more fans and I showed off my skills as a waiter. Football players are pretty boring so we get sick of being around each other so much, and the time spent with fans is a nice changeup.

We had one night off from camp this week. Kyle Wright came over and we went to Outback Steakhouse. He ordered the exact same thing as I did, which I thought was unoriginal.

Afterwards we hung out at my house for a while. My roommate from Michigan moved in so she was there with her mom getting settled. Kyle and I set up my shuffleboard, and then I kicked his butt at NBA Jam Arcade version.

I’ve been watching the Olympics every night till about midnight. I’m obsessed with them. I have to watch everything. I love the Olympics. I’ve loved it since I was a little kid. I watched fencing, and was like heck yea, we won three medals in fencing. I get really excited for everybody. I know how much hard work it takes to be an athlete of that caliber, so I think it’s awesome.

We’ve been very easy on the rookies. They didn’t make me do much last year, so I know what it is like. We gave them the hats I talked about in my diary a while back, but otherwise, we’ve taken it easy on them. I know how stressful it is trying to learn everything and then have to also worry about a vet punking you, so really all we’ve done is make them pick up candy and stuff.

So that’s all for this blog… stay tuned..

(and make sure to start making your Put Your Game Face vidoes!)
